Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Corporate Controller to join our rapidly growing pool service and retail company. Currently operating six retail locations specializing in pool parts and supplies alongside repair and service operations, this is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building and scaling the accounting and financial infrastructure of the company.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, operationally minded, and experienced in creating accounting processes, internal controls, and SOPs from the ground up. The Corporate Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, treasury management, budgeting, tax coordination, payroll oversight, and operational financial analysis while helping position the company for future growth.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Process Development
  • Build and implement accounting SOPs, workflows, and controls from the ground up
  • Develop scalable accounting systems and reporting processes to support rapid growth
  • Partner with ownership and operations leadership to improve financial visibility
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost reductions
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Develop and maintain monthly close schedules and procedures
  • Create dashboards and KPI reporting for leadership
  • Analyze profitability by store, service division, technician, and product category
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Retail & Inventory Controls
  • Develop inventory control procedures for all retail locations
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, shrinkage, and cycle count procedures
  • Analyze inventory turns, obsolete inventory, and gross margin trends
  • Implement controls around purchasing, receiving, and vendor reconciliation
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Manage company-wide cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Understand debt covenants and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Oversee corporate credit card programs and expense management systems
  • Implement cash handling and deposit procedures across retail locations
Payroll, Tax & Compliance
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll processing and ensure tax compliance
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms for income tax preparation
  • Prepare and review sales tax filings across applicable jurisdictions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
Investor & Ownership Reporting
  • Prepare regular financial reporting packages for ownership and investors
  • Oversee K-1 distributions and investor-related reporting
  • Support financial due diligence for acquisitions, financing, or expansion
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing monthly close processes
  • Experience developing accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems experience
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Preferred

  • CPA designation preferred but not required
  • Multi-location retail or service industry experience
  • Inventory accounting experience
  • QuickBooks Online or similar ERP/accounting software
  • Experience with Ramp or spend management software
  • Experience managing external audits and lender relationships
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses
